Unable to Connect to Server to check email on Android phone
Having issues of being unable to access my Cox email account from my Android phone, getting an error message that says: Cannot Safely Connect to Server. I have checked my Mobile / Secure Email Settings. My Incoming Settings are pop.east.cox.net, the port is 995, and security type SSL. My Outgoing Server Settings are smtp.east.cox.net, the port is 465, security type SSL. When going forward the following message is displayed: Setup could not finish Cannot safely connect to server. (java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found.) ........Exactly as stated in another user's question from 2/18/12.....and this has been happening to me the week of February 12 to currently as I send this February 20, 2012. Does the "east" need need to be removed from the Incoming and Outgoing Server Settings??? This is very inconvenient without any warning as a Customer. I see one other user / customer with the same issue. Any solution yet other than as mentioned in settings?Solved84KViews0likes5Commentsdetected suspicious activity ... or not
We have received (so far) 2 emails from Cox claiming that "We've detected suspicious activity on your Cox.net email account xyz@cox.net [and zyx@cox.net] and believe this email address password may be compromised or your computer may be infected with Malware. If you do not recognize this email account, it may have been created without your knowledge." We regularly scan our Mac with MalwareBytes, and other utilities, seeing NO malware here. The email goes on to say that we should change our password(s). Is anyone else getting these things? Is there any way to get through the bureaucracyto find just what "suspicious" activity they are seeing? Or is it just one of those annoyances ...Solved16KViews0likes22CommentsCox's spam filtering **
I've been a Cox customer for 20+ years. I've always known that Cox's spam filtering was **, but it's worse that **, it's horrible. I've tried hard to protect my email from spammers, but unfortunately, I got on a spammers list and am getting ** that is obviously spam. Cox is lettingthis ** through and I have to consistency log into the webmail, look through my email, add the spam to the black senders list, and report as spam before I can download it to my email client. I have to do the same for my wife's account. It's getting ridiculous. Actually, its getting to the point where I"m going to have to drop cox as my primary email account and switch to something else. As much as I hate Google, or another online email provider, I may have to switch to them. Before the new webmail I used to be able to edit the block senders list and block whole domains, but that is no longer an option. I can now only add whole email addresses. The spammers are smart and will send out spam from multiple email accounts, but I can often stop a lot of that if I can block the domain. I honestly don't think that Cox has any kind of spam control in place. If they do, then its worthless. Daryl14KViews3likes18CommentsIMAP for Cox stopped working
I've been using IMAP with my Cox account as well as several other services for many months now. IMAP still works for the other services, but I can't login to the Cox IMAP server any longer. The problems began last month. These are the settings that were successful before: cox.imap.com, port 993 using SSL. Cox user name without the cox.net. smtp.cox.net, port 587 using TLS. Full email address for outgoing server authentication. The problem seems to be only with the IMAP server authentication because SMTP is successful some of the time. My other IMAP accounts that are not hosted by Cox still work. Did the Cox IMAP server name or port number change recently? Do you know how I can get IMAP working again? I'm spoiled by having my email synced across all my devices.Solved11KViews0likes11Comments"Enter network password" windows repeatedly popping up on Outlook email
I've had 3 minimum long chats with tech support and they've changed passwords, fiddled around, but in a nutshell I am still plagued constantly by these "enter network password" pop up windows. All PWs are entered correctly. Send/receive test works fine, all email addresses send/receive okay --- and then they don't! I have a Dell PC, Windows 8.1, MS Office 2013, I use Outlook 2013 for email. (Don't use webmail, just my PC.) Tech support has been hopeless in resolving this and I am tearing my hair out. Impossible to work with these darned pop-ups. Some days worse than others but no real rhyme or reason. One tech tried to tell me it might be because my McAfee security setting was high (it's set on medium level). I said, "and that would explain 6 pop up windows in 20 seconds?" No answer. I'm beyond disappointed in Cox. Twice, the tech support sessions left things worse rather than better. Has anyone had and resolved this problem? Thanks for any advice.11KViews0likes6CommentsCan no longer send mail from my iMac
I have been able to send & receive emails until today when in the middle of typing an email it appeared that my Internet went down briefly. When I went to send the email I got the message: Cannot send message using the server cox.net. The smtp connection to server "smtp.cox.net" failed. Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click try Later. The only option highlighted in the box is " cox.net" (Offline). I have gone to the Connection Doctor. It says: "Mail was able to connect to the Internet." "Trying to log in to this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username & password are correct." Which I have verified & are correct. I am on an iMac OS X Version 10.9.1 Any help would be greatly appreciated!9.9KViews0likes9CommentsCox Email Discontinuation
I visited a Cox retail store in Metairie, LA within the last week for some account maintenance. During the visit the Cox rep informed me that in the near future, i.e., sometime in February 2022, that Cox will be discontinuing email service to all existing cox.net addresses. She said there have been multiple notices of the impending shut down. This same information was reiterated by a different rep on a subsequent visit. In reviewing my cox email accounts I have found no notice of a looming shutdown and can't find any notice on the Cox website. I am aware that new accounts cannot be created but can find nothing indicating that existing accounts will be terminated in the near future. Has anyone else heard anything regarding the discontinuation of existing Cox email accounts? If so, can you point me to additional information? Thanks.8.8KViews0likes1CommentNot receiving all emails
Hi, for the last few weeks I have not been receiving all my emails. I normally receive around 50 emails a day, and now I am receiving around 10. I noticed it seems to be businesses I've subscribed to, I am not receiving their daily deals, nor can I subscribe to new businesses, (when I join they always send a "verification" email, which I never receive). I use the webmail service on your cox.net web site. I've double checked every setting, I have no filters, I have the spam settings set to mark it as spam and deliver all, no forwarding, every setting is set to allow everything. Again, this just started about 3 weeks ago, and have not added any new accounts, nothing new on my end has happened. Please help Thank you8.6KViews1like14Comments
